Hello, Hanlin family!

This weekend, I present to you the final (and my favorite) vlog from my and Amelia's long weekend in Chicagoland. Technical problems have been solved, so you won't be missing any images or have any awkward silences this time. ;) Jouir!

Helllooooo, sweeties.

Here's the second vlog of Aemelia's and my trip to Chicago last weekend. Things are a wee bit crazy on my end of the world, so I'm a little behind, but I'm beginning to edit some of my personal projects little by little. A few problems with my computer are putting a damper on things, and there's a few clips and music missing from this video, but I hope you enjoy it all the same... Apologies in advance for that. #technology

Hanlin Meets A Boy

I met a boy last June - he was the best man at a friend's wedding and I was the photographer.
He had a beard and an Iron Man T-shirt on under his tuxedo, and I thought he was cute - a fact I mentioned to the bride a month or so after the wedding.

Hello, Hanlin Family! Welcome back to my wee corner of the inter webs. Last weekend was a tiring one, but a fantastic one.

On Saturday afternoon I was off on a train to Chicago with Aemelia - the main purpose of our trip was to venerate the relics of St. Maria Goretti at St. John Cantius Catholic Church, but we decided to stay a couple of extra days at a friend's house a few minutes outside of the big city. True, Maria's relics were in our home state just before they were moved to Illinois, but... why not go to the Windy City when you have a perfectly legitimate justification to go to Windy City?

So, we went to Chicago. And vlogged it. And had lots of fun. Here is the first half of our trip. Enjoy!

Camp Takota (NR) 2014 ~ Netflix movie review

If you've ever been anywhere near me or my blog, you will know of my deep passion for visual entertainment - namely YouTube, movies, and Netflix. So, when I saw that one of my favorite Youtube personalities, Grace Helbig, scored a roll with her two close YouTube friends in a full-length feature film, I was stoked. And then I forgot about it. Until I saw the thumbnail on Netflix the other evening. So I watched it, enjoyed it (for the most part), and wrote a review. Here it is:
It's true: best friends are found and made at summer camp. I met Aemelia at a Christian girls camp called Pine Hills, and Elise Miller (Grace Helbig) met her two best friends at Camp Takota, a summer camp for teen girls in the mosquito-ridden backwoods of somewhere, USA.

Elise Miller (played by the hilarious Grace Helbig), dowdy and awkward Maxine (Mamrie Hart) and boyish lesbian Allison (Hannah Hart, no relation to Mamrie) were a tight group back when they were campers at Takota, but the camp friendship between Elise and her compatriots ended when she landed a job in Chicago and life in general got in the way, while Maxine and Allison stayed at Takota as director and chef.

Hello, Hanlin Family!

Who was able to see the blood moon last Sunday? I almost missed it because of cloud cover, but I ended up sitting in a cornfield on the side of the road and watched from just before midway to almost the end. What a beautiful sight that was.

+ a trip to Spicer's Apple Orchard and Winery with Aemelia
+ a double date to the Renaissance Festival in Holly with #timalie, including a joust.

All in all, a good week. Enjoy the vlog!
