HORSE PHOTOBOMB | vlog (Answer me This, Vol. 9)

It's vlog time, folks!

Every August at the Hanlin Family picnic, we have a standing horseshoe pitching contest, and every year, my dad and I participate. He's always been a decent pitcher, and I won the trophy with an uncle at a different Hanlin party about five years ago now by a wild stroke of luck (a story for another time), but I've never had a talent for the sport overall.

This year, my dad and I decided to try and do something about it.

(This week's Answer me This entry is below the video.)

the problem with pets

The problem with having pets is that eventually you love them.

And eventually you have to say goodbye.

Street-erview with Lit - STREET NEWSPAPERS (video)

Street + Interview = Street-erview. I don't know.

Last week, as you know, I went to the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair and had a grand time. And while I was there, I had the opportunity to speak with a vendor for the street newspaper, Groundcover News. I did include this wee interview in last week's video blog, but I thought I'd put it in a standalone video, just for fun, and for those who didn't watch the vlog (I know it was a long one).

I am hoping in the near future to interact with more vendors in interview form and discover more about them and their business, but for now, if anyone has any more curiosities towards the legitimacy of the vendors, here is their code, copied directly from an issue of their newspaper:

SO MUCH TALENT \ Ann Arbor Street Art Fair 2015

The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair is one of my favorite places to be in the summertime. I'm always amazed by the amount of talent out and about during that half-week: musicians on street corners and the vendors whose booths line over 30 blocks of downtown Ann Arbor. This year was the 56th year, and I spent as much time there as possible. Aemelia and I went on Wednesday afternoon and spent some time catching up together and wandering around after an amazing Potbelly sub, and Erin and I went together on Thursday evening for a meander and some girl time. Bless my dad for telling me to bring bikes... they were so much fun, and saved our feet some grief. ;)

And of course, I vlogged it!

Hello, Hanlin family!

I hope you all had a lovely 4th of July weekend, whether or not you celebrate Independence Day. My family and I met up for the downtown parade in the morning, and then I spent the rest of the day at pet jobs. I didn't mind having to work though, because I was able to spend most of the time outside, and the weather was parfait.

I also participated in Kendra's Answer me This link-up again this week, so if you'd like to read a story about the one time I became miserably lost in the middle of the night in the middle of Detroit, read on below the video.
