12 for 2014: a photo re-cap of the year

Note: I know I have promised video reviews of a few movies, with Interstellar and The Battle of the Five Armies among them, and although technical difficulties have postponed the filming, they are still coming!!

Today I'm linking up with Mama Dweej of House Unseen. Life Unscripted for her 12 in 2014 - where we choose our favorite photo from each month, all in all summing up our year.

When I got the idea to make the video, I didn't really map out time to talk about each picture, so I thought I'd write a little something about them instead. Here goes!

January 2014: March for life! This picture is one of my favorite pictures ever taken, and I don't even really know why. I've always loved the metro.

February 2014: The sparkling beauty of a world shrouded in snow is one of the things that never ceases to amaze me. Science. Nothing memorable happened in February, so I thought I'd nab this picture of my favorite barn that I pass every day to and from work.

March 2014: I was hired for my first large-scale photography gig this past March! A long-time acquaintance holds a St. Patrick's Day dinner dance party auction fundraiser every year, and their photographer was unable to attend the event at the last minute, so one of his employees hunted me down and asked if I would be willing to help out. YES! It was great fun.

April 2014: After finalizing and publishing the video, I re-watched it and realized that there's no way this picture could've been from April, because we didn't even visit my brother until August... but because I'm lazy and I hate waiting for my computer's uber-slow programming, I'm going to cheat and leave it in there.

May 2014: My best friend is pretty awesome.

June 2014: If you don't know by now about my new job at the radio station, you must live under a rock.

July 2014: Chicago, friends, yay.

August 2014: August is wedding season! It seems we've entered that strange time of our lives when our childhood friends start getting married. Caitlin was the first, and man, it was a party. Some memories, though, it is okay to keep private, so that's all you're going to hear about it. ;)

September 2014: Aemelia and I spend the day on the beach of Lake Michigan this past September. It was a very short trip, and we were extremely sunburned by the end of it (because we're smart), but it was wonderful.

October 2014: Another thing on the list of things that continually amaze me is autumn in this area. I think the picture speaks for itself.

November 2014: Every Christmas season I try to recreate those adorable Pinterest pictures of hedgehogs in teacups and next to decorations, and every Christmas season, Zo hates every minute of it and it's a complete fail.

I never learn.

December 2014: My grandma (my mom's mom) was an incredibly talented and creative woman, and her Christmas beads are my favorite hand-me-down from her. She would find old mismatched beads, and string them on fishing twine for yards, and they would string them on their Christmas trees. I love the tradition, and it's something my family does every year now. Luckily, my grandma passed down almost all of her beads to us.

  1. I think your grandma has inspired me to find or make some properly beautiful Christmas beads!
